One of WSEP's key roles is to campaign on key issues affecting the County. It can bring together the views of business and the public sector of the county to represent and campaign for the long term growth of the county:
WSEP believes it is vital to regenerate the coastal towns. The demise of the traditional seaside holiday has left many seaside towns unsuited to the modern age. Investment has dwindled and town centres have struggled to compete with the more accessible inland shopping centres with large catchments. These towns have poor transport road and rail links and employment sites are largely unsuited to meet the needs of modern companies.
WSEP has support the Area Investment Framework proposed by SEEDA to co-ordinate and facilitate public sector investment to stimulate the economy and to overcome social deprivation.
