WSEP is committed to working with partners to ensure the county has a highly and appropriately skilled workforce able to satisfy the needs of employers - from the basic skills and fitness to work, through a range of technical and vocational skills to technologist and managerial skills.
Skills shortages are a key issue for employers, yet there remains an important element of the community unable to access opportunities, skills and jobs because of the 'barriers' they face. Over 2003-2008 WSEP plan to address this by promoting education, training and access to opportunity for all, to increase participation rates; attracting and developing people at all levels of the labour market and ensuring the county has a workforce that wants to stay.
