West Sussex has good quality commercial sites and premises, particularly in Crawley / Gatwick and other North Sussex towns, where new, highly specified office buildings of up to 60,000 sqft are ready for tenants to occupy. However some areas, particularly in coastal West Sussex, are more poorly served and it has become clear that without intervention in the market these areas will not attract the investment to provide the quality of property infrastructure required by most modern industrial and commercial end users.
For this reason, WSEP has set up a property industry sector group to bring together the private and public sectors in a team that can take a lead on property issues in the county. As well as responding to major consultations, the Strategic Sites and Commercial Premises Task Group Chaired by surveyor Graham Glenn, is looking at ways of improving the existing commercial offer within the county, whilst strengthening the relations between local authority planners, business, developers and agents at the same time.
