WINNERS:
INNOVATIVE CLIMATE CHANGING BOLLARD
- The world's first solar powered flexible bollard for use in road maintenance and traffic management schemes made by Crawley based Traffic Management Products won the Innovation prize in the 2008 Highways Excellence Awards.

 

The 'TMP Heritage Solalite' uses solar power to generate energy for the internal LED illumination for the bollard making it both environmentally friendly and cost effective to use.

 

GATWICK IS TOP LEISURE AIRPORT - Gatwick was voted best leisure airport by passengers and the travel industry in the 2008 British Travel Awards.

 

PRIZE SET IN STONE  - Chichester-based specialist stonemasons CWO Ltd (Cathedral Work's Organisation), won the Repair & Restoration Award at the Natural Stone Awards 2008 for their conservation work in St George's Chapel Windsor.  The company is also involved in the restoration of London?s landmark Monument memorial to the Great Fire of London

 

WATERLOO MOMENT - Exporting can be one way of escaping the crunch.  Circuit board manufacturer Teknoflex in Chichester is certainly finding it the case. They have contracts in Australia, New Zealand and Egypt but found Germany and France more difficult to crack. 

 

But Managing Director Brian Shorrock found the answer. "Recently we've pulled off our very own Waterloo moment by hiring the Sales Manager of our French competitor which will bring in 2 million euros worth of business with immediate effect and now we are out performing them."
